Parallels For Mac Windows 10 Black Screen
I installed Windows 10 on my Boot Camp MacBook Pro (a few days before Apple released the Boot Camp 6 update for Windows 10). After the overnight download it automatically installed. This morning I am confronted with a black screen! The brightness buttons had no effect so I thought the machine had crashed.
Previously Parallels worked fine. Then, it says my mac out of space. So i have move the virtual machine to hard drive. However, when i double click to launch Windows 10, it only shows screen with temporary window and buffer logo and stopped at blank/ black screen. I have tried Action Reset, did not work. Parallels Toolbox for Mac & Windows; Parallels Access. A virtual machine with macOS Big Sur shows a black screen after the Parallels Tools reinstallation. Fixed in 16.0.0. On Macs with the macOS version other than Big Sur, screen resolution of a newly created Big Sur virtual machine is set to 1024x768. I have my Windows 10 VM (Windows 10 Home, version 2004) kept in dock, which I usually use to directly launch the VM without having to open Parallels. After updating to Big Sur, whenever I launch Windows 10 directly from my Windows 10 VM docked icon, the VM is launched in a full black screen. Windows 10 virtual machine starts with black screen, forcibly stopping the virtual machine and starting again makes the issue to be gone, but next starting/restarting of virtual machine will stuck again with black screen. To know how to forcibly Stop virtual machine check the following article. Windows 10 fast startup feature enabled. So, let’s see if there are some common cases when Windows goes to the black screen and if there’s any way to fix it.I will be using Parallels Desktop for Mac with Windows 7 and XP virtual machines for the tests. The first and simple scenario in which the black screen can pop up is the incorrect work of the “explorer” process.
After a reboot to Windows 10 the initial Windows logo appears and then the screen goes black before I am asked to login. Long story short, I boot into OSX and Google the issue. Nothing really helps but for one site which says that the problem (experienced in 2013 with Windows 7) was that the brightness levels of the display was turned down to 0% after an upgrade on a similar machine (Boot Camp MacBook).
I think it can't be this simple but I unplug the power and find that indeed, after Boot Camp 6 installed last night it turned the brightness level to 0% when the machine is not on battery!
Please apple, sort this out as I could have spent the whole day trying to fix the issue!!!
